Integrate WABA Overview

1. Overview

To use Wapto (WhatsApp Business API), you must connect your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA). There are two primary ways to do this: the Automatic Flow (Embedded Signup/QR) and the Manual Flow (Via Meta Developer Portal).

2. Connection Methods

Choose the method that best suits your technical comfort level to link your WhatsApp account to Wapto.

Method A: Embedded Signup (Recommended)

The absolute fastest way to connect. Authenticate directly via Meta without manual ID entry.

Step 1: Click "Connect WhatsApp"

Click on the Connect button from the Integrations page in your dashboard.


Step 2: Login with Facebook

A Meta popup will open. Login with your Facebook account that has admin access to your Business Manager.

Step 3: Select or Create Business Account

Choose an existing Meta Business Account or follow the prompts to create a new one.

Step 4: Select or Create WABA

Choose your existing WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) or create a new one for this workspace.

Enter the business phone number you wish to use. Ensure it is not active on other WhatsApp apps.

Enter the 6-digit verification code received via SMS or Voice call to confirm ownership.

Click Allow to grant Wapto access to manage your WhatsApp messages and business settings.

Your account is now linked! You can view your status as "Connected" in the dashboard.

Method B: QR Code Connection

Quickly link your device by scanning a code, similar to WhatsApp Web.

Follow these steps:
  • Open WhatsApp on your mobile phone.
  • Tap Menu (⋮) or Settings (⚙️) and select Linked Devices.
  • Tap on Link a Device.
  • Point your phone to this screen to capture the QR code.
Method C: Manual (Cloud API)

Use this method if you prefer to manually input identifiers from your Meta Developer App.

Requirement Where to find it?
Phone Number ID Meta Developer Portal → WhatsApp → API Setup → Phone Number ID.
WhatsApp Business ID Meta Developer Portal → WhatsApp → API Setup → WhatsApp Business Account ID.
Registered Phone Number The phone number verified in your Meta App (under Phone Numbers).
Business ID Meta Business Settings → Business Info → Business Manager ID.
App ID Meta Developer Portal → App Dashboard → App ID (at the top bar).
Permanent Access Token Meta Business Settings → System Users → Generate Token (Step 03 in Setup Guide).

3. Connection Status

Monitor your connection health via the status indicator on the WABA card:

  • Not Connected: No active configuration exists.
  • Connected: Numbers are linked, verified, and ready.
  • Error / Action Required: Token expired or policy violation.

4. Best Practices

  • Use Embedded Signup for beginners: Replaces manual setup for faster onboarding.
  • Keep tokens secure: Treat System User tokens like passwords.
  • Verify webhook properly: Ensure subscriptions are active to avoid missed messages.

  • Recommended Method: Embedded Signup is the preferred choice.
  • Business Requirement: Verified Meta Business Account is needed for higher limits.
  • Phone Number Clean Slate: The number must be removed from consumer/business apps first.
